چکیده

Telecom operators base their DSL-tariffs mainly on the offered bit rate. The maximal achievable bit rate is different for each customer, because it depends on two parameters. On the one hand, the transfer function of the ‘subscriber loop’, which depends on the network topology (the cabling between the central office and the subscriber) and on the other hand the Power Spectral Density of the noise. Equipment able to measure these two parameters already exists. However, the presence of a technician at the customer’s home is still needed. This is the main disadvantage of the so-called “Dual-Ended Line Testing”. In contrast, Single-Ended Line Testing (SELT) aims at identifying the subscriber loop by measuring the S11 parameter at the central office and using a noise model. This eliminates the dispatching of a technician, but is of course much more complex and intrinsically less accurate than with DELT. A useful tool in this is Time Domain Reflectometry [1].

Single Ended Loop Topology Estimation using FDR and Correlation TDR in a DSL Modem

The broadband capability of a DSL is dependant on the copper access network. Single Ended Loop Testing (SELT) is the most preferred and economical way in estimating the copper loop topology. The combined use of complementary code based Correlation Time Domain Reflectometry (CTDR) and Frequency Domain Reflectometry (FDR) for accurate loop topology estimation is presented in this paper. The advan...

Line Topology Estimation of Indoor power Lines Using Multipoint Single Ended Loop Testing

Quality of broadband connectivity over a residential power line is dependent on its topology; which is very different from twisted pair copper used in telephony. In this paper methods to estimate the topology of a power line are investigated. A two step procedure comprising of a set of correlation time domain Reflectometry (CTDR) measurements based on Single Ended Loop Testing (SELT) and an ini...

A Novel Sampling Approach in GNSS-RO Receivers with Open Loop Tracking Method

Propagation of radio occultation (RO) signals through the lower troposphere results in high phase acceleration and low signal to noise ratio signal. The excess Doppler estimation accuracy in lower troposphere is very important in receiving RO signals which can be estimated by sliding window spectral analysis. To do this, various frequency estimation methods such as MUSIC and ESPRIT can be adopt...

Definition of General Operator Space and The s-gap Metric for Measuring Robust Stability of Control Systems with Nonlinear Dynamics

In the recent decades, metrics have been introduced as mathematical tools to determine the robust stability of the closed loop control systems. However, the metrics drawback is their limited applications in the closed loop control systems with nonlinear dynamics. As a solution in the literature, applying the metric theories to the linearized models is suggested. In this paper, we show that usin...

High-Performance Robust Three-Axis Finite-Time Attitude Control Approach Incorporating Quaternion Based Estimation Scheme to Overactuated Spacecraft

With a focus on investigations in the area of overactuated spacecraft, a new high-performance robust three-axis finite-time attitude control approach, which is organized in connection with the quaternion based estimation scheme is proposed in the present research with respect to state-of-the-art. The approach proposed here is realized based upon double closed loops to deal with the angular rate...
